A Wollongong man has been charged with reckless wounding after a woman allegedly suffered lacerations to her skull and shoulder in a dispute over text messages.

Police allege the woman had an argument around 4.30am on Monday with the 50-year-old man who saw text messages she had received from a man known to him.
The argument escalated and the accused "pushed the victim backwards onto the bed and lied on top of her, and called her offensive names, police said.
She told him to get off, which he did, then he punched her in the head above he right ear while holding a knife, police allege.
The victim sustained lacerations to her skull and her shoulder and superficial lacerations to her thigh, police said.
The man was charged with reckless wounding, contravene a domestic violence order and breaching bail.
He was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Sunday.
