A Wollongong man charged with reckless wounding after a woman allegedly suffered lacerations to her skull and shoulder in a dispute over text messages has been identified in court as Wayne Austin Ellis.

Police allege the woman had an argument between 3.30am and 4am on Saturday with Ellis, 50, who saw text messages she had received from a man known to him.
The argument escalated and Ellis allegedly pushed the victim backwards onto the bed and lied on top of her, and called her offensive names, police said.
She allegedly told him to get off, which he did, however he then allegedly punched her in the head above he right ear while holding a knife.
The victim sustained lacerations to her skull and her shoulder and superficial lacerations to her thigh.
Ellis was arrested just before 5am and taken to Wollongong Police Station.
He was charged with reckless wounding, contravene a domestic violence order and breaching his bail and remanded in custody.
He did not apply for bail in court on Sunday and it was formally refused.
