The chamber considers it an important topic. A recent KPMG and Mental Health Australia report found mental ill-health in the workplace costs an average of $3,200 per employee with mental illness. The overall cost in Australia is $12.8 billion.
The annual lunch in Wollongong will see National Mental Health Commissioner Lucy Brogden and Governor General David Hurley help raise awareness and share information about mental health.
It will also raise funds for the One Door Mental Health Clubhouse in Wollongong. And support Illawarra teenagers caring for parents with mental illness.
