Wollongong and Shellharbour police were out in force over the long weekend but were "disappointed" with many drivers who were caught speeding and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Police conducted more than 5,000 breath tests across the Illawarra from Friday to Monday night and issued 124 motorists with speeding fines.
Seven infringement notices were issued for not wearing seatbelts and 153 infringements were issued for other traffic related offices.
Southern region traffic tactician, Acting Inspector Andrew Palmowski, said it was "disappointing" to see more than 280 people issued with infringements.
"We had several people tested positive for drug and drink driving," Acting Inspector Palmowski said.
"Speeding, drink and drug driving and fatigue remain the biggest killers on our roads.
"We need everyone to think about their actions every time they get behind the wheel and the impact those actions may have on others."
Across the weekend, several people were caught for serious road violations.
A 22-year-old Albion Park man was stopped on Burelli Street, Wollongong at 9.15am in relation to a mobile phone offence. The male produced a P1 provisional licence.
A check on the licence revealed he was suspended to October 9 due to demerit points.
Police issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for driving whilst suspended and for using a mobile phone.
Four passengers in a car, two of which were children, were not wearing seatbelts when a 28-year-old ACT man was stopped on George Hanley Drive, North Wollongong for a random breath test at 3.30pm.
The driver was issued four two infringements notices, totalling $1344 and 24 demerit points.
The 22-year-old Dapto man received 15 demerit points and a $1200 fine after he was stopped on Corrimal Street, police said, and fined for being more than 20 km/h over the speed limit and for not complying with the P2 licence passenger limit.
Police arrested a 37-year-old Bellambi man on Edgar Street, Towradgi about 11.50pm after he returned a positive roadside breath test. He was taken to Wollongong police station where he returned a high range reading of 0.171.
The man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for high range drink driving and his licence was suspended and confiscated.
On Saturday, police issued a prohibition notice and suspended the licence of a 53-year-old Bulli woman who tested positive to cannabis and was driving an unregistered car while suspended.
She was stopped on Memorial Drive, Towradgi at 5.40pm for a random drug test.
A 34-year-old Mangerton man tested positive to methylamphetamine and was issued a prohibition after he was stopped for a random drug test on Mount Keira Road, West Wollongong at 11.50pm.
