Illawarra golfers traveled to the Hunter Valley last week to contest in the state's biggest junior events.

The events see's golfers from interstate and overseas compete. Ethan Harvey, Wil Daibarra and Bradley Wills competed in the Jack Newton International Junior Classic for golfers aged 15-17 years at Cypress Lakes Country Club.
The best performed was Ethan Harvey who carded rounds of 76,77,72 and 72 to finish tied 26th overall and 3rd in the boy's 16 years nett.
Daibarra (17 years) and Wills (15 years) finished mid-field in their age group and tied 64th and 80th overall respectively.
The Jack Newton Sub Junior Classic for golfers 14 and under was held at the Hunter Valley Country Club with Sienna Clarke, Andrew Brown and Aksel Thomsen competing.
Clarke signed for rounds of 88,84,81 and 82 to finish 7th in the 13 years girls and 22nd overall. Brown finished tied 37th overall was tied 22nd in the 14 years boy's, with Thomsen tied 68th overall and 23rd in the13 years boy's.
Stinson eyes pro shift
Grange golfer Grahame Stinson is likely to use an over 50's exemption to turn professional after claiming the the Links Shell Cove Open after a three-hole playoff on Monday.
Stinson claimed the NSW Open regional qualifying event by two shots, birdying the third playoff hole, from recent University of Oklahoma graduate Jackson Bugdalski.
It sees him earn invites to the $120,000 NSW Senior Open at Thurgoona later this month, as well as the NSW Open at Twin Creeks starting November 28.
It was a dramatic win for a mid-week member at The Grange and Links Shell Cove.
"I think I will. It's not about making money, it's about going out and playing in these tournaments," Stinson said.
"I love golf so I'd like to get out there and play in these senior pro-ams. I'm enjoying it now more than ever because if it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't.
Upcoming events: There are a number of spots still available for the Callala Open and Gerringong Legends Pro-Am which are both being held this Sunday.
