The largest regional Oktoberfest in Australia celebrates its 30th year at The German Club Wollongong from October 18 to 20.

The annual event run by volunteers to promote German culture in will feature the Masters of Oompah providing authentic German entertainment as well as German Dance Groups all three days in the big tent at Northcliffe Drive, Kembla Grange.
There will also be sausage eating, strong man, strong woman, nail hammer and German beard competitions. Epic Gaming Australia will be present with Skirmish.
Organisers say Sunday will follow the tradition of being a family fun day.
Up to 500 people generally come on the Friday night for the start of festivities. On the Saturday in 2019 German Club duty manager Robert Pstec said 2000 people turn out dressed in theme.
Organisers advise no glassware is permitted at the event, tickets are cheaper online but can be bought at full price at the gate.
The fully catered event features a range of food such as pork knuckles, pork cutlets. pulled pork, bratwursts. frankfurts, sauerkraut and German cakes.
