An off-duty police officer has arrested a man accused of smashing a glass door of a store with a carton of beer at Fairy Meadow on Wednesday.

The officer saw a 37-year-old man and two women in an argument outside a store on the Princes Highway at about 3.30pm before the man allegedly swung the beer carton between the two women.
The carton hit the door and caused a large crack in the glass.
The Police Transport Command officer approached the man nearby on Elliots Road and identified himself as a police officer.
The man allegedly swore and attempted to leave.
The officer restrained the man before Wollongong police officers attended the scene.
The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with malicious damage and resist/hinder police.
He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Wollongong Local Court on November 12.
The officer was not injured during the incident.
