On Sunday, September 29 police were called to Dress Circle and Headland Drive at Tura Beach after receiving reports of multiple dead kangaroos on the road.
Police say an estimated 20 animals were hit, including 11 killed between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, September 28.
Detectives attached to South Coast Police District began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths and arrested a 19-year-old Numbugga man over the matter earlier this month.
Meanwhile, about 1.30pm on Thursday, October 10, a 33-year-old Tura Beach man attended Queanbeyan Police Station where he was arrested and charged with torture, beat and cause death of animal.
Both men have been granted conditional bail and will appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday, November 26.
The incident not only shocked locals it also made national and international headlines.
Earlier this week, WIRES reported three kangaroo joeys that survived the incident had begun to settle and were on the mend.
The two older males have moved into care with Wildlife Rescue South Coast where they have become part of a buddy system with kangaroos the same size.
It is hoped they will form a mob and eventually be released together.
A younger female joey, called Delilha, who feeds six times a day is still under the care of a WIRES volunteer.
