Eishan Ensemble has been described as both Persian Chamber jazz and Middle Eastern jazz fusion.
The Sydney-based ensemble is a vehicle for the original music of acclaimed Iranian-Australian tar player and composer Hamed Sadeghi.
The Persian tar is a long-necked string instrument.
"I was born and raised in Iran, and I studied Persian classical music there," Sadeghi said. "All the music is my composition, and we have a lot of improvisation in between."
Formed in 2016, the instrumental ensemble have performed in Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, the Phillipines and Taiwan.
Sadeghi said the ensemble planned to tour Europe in 2020.
"We get a wide range of audiences - mainly jazz and world music audiences come to our gigs," Sadeghi said.
Their first album, Nim Dong, was released in late 2018.
The show is on Sunday, October 20 at Berry Uniting Church. Doors at 5pm, show starts 6pm.
