With the NSW All Schools Championships placed at the start of the summer season, Dunne was not training to peak at the competition.
However after defending her 100 metre title and claiming bronze in the 200m, the 17-year-old was thrilled to be running so well so early in the season.
"It was really good to get two medals," Dunne said. "It's been the off-season, so I'm basically just doing starts at training, the longer runs haven't come in yet. I'm not aiming to peak now, I'm hoping to peak for nationals in March, that's the main goal."
Dunne has impressed over the sprint events for a number of years, with the Athletics Wollongong member collecting two bronze medals at this year's Australian Junior Championships.
Having excelled through her teenage years, Dunne is hoping to qualify for the World Under 20 Championships in the coming seasons. Having already cracked the 12 second mark, she is not far off securing a berth in Nairobi next year.

"To win a national title would be really good, that's always a big goal. I want to keep getting faster, dropping times, training hard and doing everything I can to get a national title.
"In the long run, I want to compete on the world stage and lower my times to get close to that mark. I don't have to drop too much to qualify for World Under 20s. The time is only 11.85, I think I can go under that time."
Dunne's results came as a host of Illawarra youngsters impressed at the meet.
Oak Flats' Teagan Berry edged Dunne for silver in the 17 years 200m and finished third in the 17 years 100.
Albion Park's Delta Amidzovski was a standout performer yet again, the 13-year-old claiming four gold medals, one bronze and three state records.
Chelsea Ezeoke also etched her name in the record books, the teenager setting a new state record in the 13 years 400m final.
