Competing at the BL's Blast Off event on Sydney's Northern Beaches, Cruz took out the under eight boys competition before older brother Taj finished second in the under 10 event.
Finals day saw the juniors greeted by near-perfect conditions at Whale Beach, with Cruz Air producing a number of impressive waves to outpoint his rivals and secure a first-place finish.
Taj was also impressive in his final, with the youngster ultimately edged by Newcastle's Ocean Lancaster.
The school holidays also saw the Illawarra's surfers contest the second round of the GromSearch series in Newcastle.
Shyla Short finished third in the 12 and under girls event, the Austinmer talent edged by a Hawaiian youngster.
Culburra's Keira Buckpitt was third in the 14 and under girls final, while Charli Hurst finished fourth in the 16 and under girls event.
