Peoplecare head of hospital and health services Melissa Jones is celebrating being named the winner of the annual Illawarra Connection and University of Wollongong Sydney Business School MBA Scholarship.

The announcement was made at The Illawarra Connection dinner at the Novotel on Tuesday. TIC president Graham Lancaster said the quality of applications was high and the scholarship was awarded to Ms Jones as an outstanding example of the smart, hardworking, committed young people driving Wollongong's progress.
Mr Lancaster said it was hard to not to be impressed by Ms Jones as an applicant who clearly demonstrated the qualities and values of TIC and UOW.
"During the last decade she has worked hard to grow and continually develop her knowledge and skills".
Ms Jones said she very grateful for the opportunity to study. "I am excited to get started. I am kicking off with my Graduate Certificate in Business Administration first and then heading straight into the MBA".
Ms Jones has worked at Peoplecare for six years and said it has been a time of rapid growth for her.
"I have learnt a lot. I love the people at Peoplecare. It is an amazing team of supportive and encouraging employees who love to be there," she said.
Ms Jones first joined the executive team at Peoplecare when she was asked to act in the role Melinda Williams vacated when she was appointed CEO.
"She has just done a phenomenal job," Dr Williams said.
