Run on Wednesdays throughout the next six weeks, the league aims to introduce girls aged 12 to 15 to the sport in a fun, friendly environment.
The matches are held at Kiama Sports Complex, with all players guaranteed a bat and a bowl.
Cricket NSW Participation Officer Jenna Purcell said the league is intended to be a positive first taste of the sport for girls in the Illawarra.
"It's a non-competitive, social league," Purcell said. "Everyone gets to bat for two overs and to have a bowl, we provide all the equipment.
"Playing with the boys can be intimidating for girls, so the idea of it is that you don't have to go and play with the boys straight up.
"We're hopeful that girls will play in this league and then when their confidence grows, they can move on to competitive cricket. That's the ultimate goal."
