White scored 55 to lead his side to 5-129 in the first innings, before he produced figures of 3/16 off three overs with the ball to help restrict the Flames to 8-120.

The win puts South Coast in prime position to progress to the Regional Bash finals, with Illawarra's hopes of playing on the Sydney Cricket Ground taking a major blow.

White praised his side for their performance on Friday night and said the Crew will enter Sunday's matches confident they can overcome Central West and Orana.

"We spoke about how important this game was to get us into the tournament," White said. "It makes the scenario that we're in on Sunday a little bit easier.

"Now we can play with some freedom, hopefully score a few more than 130 if the wicket permits and the weather.

"It's a big day Sunday, we're pretty keen and you'll see a couple of changes and we'll see how we go. I'm confident we can pull off what we've done today again."

After setting a competitive total, South Coast started their defence in search of early wickets and it was Mark Ulcigrai who delivered, the Lake Illawarra captain removing opener Corbin Nunn in the second over.

Reduced to 1-7, Jayden Zahra-Smith and Dave Studholme attempted to lay the foundation for a successful run chase, however it was slow going on a wicket that was proving tough to score on.

With wickets falling at regular intervals, Studholme struggled to find a partner to mount a successful run chase.

Ultimately the opener was unable to find that partner and he was dismissed for 41 in the 16th over.

Requiring 39 off the final four overs, the Flames attempted to produce a late flourish, however it was not to be. Instead it was South Coast's bowlers who closed out the game and secured the nine-run victory.

Defending a low total, White praised his bowlers for the way they contained Illawarra's batsmen

"We didn't think 130 was enough at this ground. But obviously funny things happen in cricket.

"I would've bowled first personally, but I was glad we didn't. It was really hard to bat, the dew made the ball softer and harder to hit.

"I was very happy to see the guys bowl really well in the middle and we choked them towards the end."

Illawarra's failed run chase after the bowlers largely did a good job containing the South Coast batsmen in the first innings.

The Crew took their time to get set, with openers White and Ned Taylor combining for a 55-run first-wicket partnership.

Taylor fell midway through the 10th over, at a time when the pair were looking to increase the run rate.

With Taylor dismissed, White attempted to push on. The Illawarra's bowlers, however, were able to control the tempo with the ball and South Coast struggled to move the run rate beyond six an over.

White brought up his half century in the 14th over, however it all came unstuck for soon after.

Facing the first ball of the 16th over, White skied a Jacob O'Connell delivery, with Andrew Page safely taking the catch to dismiss the opener for 55 off 48 balls.

The over quickly turned into a defining over, with O'Connell producing three dot balls before he added his second and third wickets.

Suddenly South Coast were reduced to 4-101 and Illawarra looked to be well on top.

Ultimately the Crew made their way to 5-129, before the bowlers did the job to secure the win.
