Passengers will get to experience an authentic steam train journey behind former NSW Government Railways locomotive 5917 as the Shoalhaven Picnic Train rolls into Wollongong on Saturday, November 9.
The evening tour departs from Wollongong at 4.15pm and goes all the way to the terminus of the South Coast Line to Bomaderry, where passengers can alight from the train for a quick visit to the pub.
The steam train then heads back to Kiama for a two-hour stopover, where passengers can have dinner before reboarding at 9.20pm for the return trip to Wollongong.
Tickets are also available for one-hour return trips from Wollongong to Scarborough on November 9 and 10.
Locomotive 5917 has undergone a major overhaul over the past two years, costing close to half a million dollars
