Tyga performed at Waves Nightclub at Towradgi Beach Hotel on Sunday night.
According to the Facebook event, it would be an "exclusive club show in Wollongong". It was billed as running from 6pm to midnight, including support acts.
According to fans, Tyga's set didn't begin until almost 11.45pm, and lasted about 25 minutes. However, some fans claim the performance was closer to 15 minutes in length.
Dozens of disgruntled punters - who had paid between $60 and $80 each for tickets - took to social media to voice their annoyance afterwards.
This included commenting on a posting made on the Waves Facebook page prior to the show - a post that has since been deleted.
One fan, Wollongong resident Georgie* said there was a noticeable lack of organisation at the show.
"It was poorly organised, and they seemed to have issues with the microphone during Tyga's set," the TAFE student, 25, said.
"It was a massive letdown - a lot of hype around it, and they sold a lot of tickets.
"I heard one girl say she spent $100 on her ticket.
"When he finally came on, it was so late in the evening people had been there three or four hours.
"I think a lot of people were cranky. While we were walking out I could hear a lot of people saying they were going to demand refunds.
"It was disappointing. It was good that he finally came on... But it was almost over as soon as he was on.
"It was a massive letdown and a waste of money."
An entertainment group were the subcontractors for the show, having purchased it from Lucky URBN, who promoted the hip-hop star's Australian tour.
There were reports the event had always been marketed as a 30-minute club show, not a fully-fledged concert, although it seemed many fans were unaware of this.
Georgie said "that was the vibe I got from it", but "I still thought it was going to be a little bit of a concert".
"He seemed to mash up his songs as quick as possible, just to get them out," she said.
"When you have a big expectation on you, I think you should give a little more."
The Mercury made a series of unsuccessful attempts to contact Lucky URBN.
The venue was also contacted for comment.
