Briton Hutchison, his mother Kirsty Woodroffe, his partner Bonnie Stephenson and three younger siblings were left devastated when their Spofforth Street home went up in flames just after 5pm.
After hearing the family's plight, residents have made donations through a GoFundMe page and dropped off practical items such as clothes to a Spofforth Street neighbour.
The eldest sibling, 20-year-old Briton, said his family were amazed and grateful for the donations.
"The response from the community has given us hope that we can rebuild our lives and get back on our feet," he said.
"My family has been through a lot. We left our previous home because we had to but at least we had all our belongings.
"But now everything has been destroyed.
"We are still devastated. It felt unreal and unbelievable when we drove past to see our home gone."
Mr Hutchison was working when the house caught alight.
His 17-year-old partner Bonnie, who lives with the family, was looking after the younger siblings while Ms Woodroffe went to Sydney for a night out for the first time in years.
The fire is believed to have started from a faulty power board, which sparked causing the mattress above to catch alight and within minutes the house was engulfed in flames.
"My siblings are still traumatised," Mr Hutchison said.
"The fire alarm went off, they saw the small fire then they got out and watched the house go up in flames.
"They heard the windows blow out and the pop of aerosol cans. I wish I could have been there to comfort them."
Housing NSW has found the family a temporary home in a caravan park while a more suitable house is located.
The family has been run off their feet getting essential items, visiting Housing NSW several times and has made phone calls to get bank cards, licences and birth certificates replaced.
"My employer Oscars Group, which is a big company with thousands of employees, has helped so much," Mr Hutchison said.
"They donated a fridge-worth of food.
"I am lost for words. I can't thank them enough."
The family has also been given nappies for the baby, shoes and toothbrushes.
"The donations help as those items are one less thing we have to worry about," Mr Hutchison said.
He said the family would use any money raised through the GoFundMe page to buy items such as a lounge, washing machine, fridge and television so they could live a normal life again.
