Shellharbour City's 'Dogs' in the Park' is taking place on Sunday (October 27).
The event will take place from 10am to 3pm at Albion Park Showground.
There will be interactive stalls, giveaways, agility demonstrations and the opportunity for dog owners to discuss with experts and service providers all aspects of their dog's health and well-being.
There are also many competitions including cutest dog, happiest dog, fancy dress, golden bone races, and a doggie owner look-alike contest. Every entry will receive a ribbon on the day.
This year, Shellharbour City Council will be co-presenting the annual event with Dogs in the Park NSW, a non-profit organisation that promotes responsible dog ownership through free community events across the state.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the event was a great way to celebrate the joy and companionship that dogs bring to our everyday lives.
"With 30,000 dogs in the city, dog ownership is a big part of our community's lifestyle," Cr Saliba said.
"To reflect this council recently adopted its first ever Shellharbour Dog Friendly Spaces Strategy.
"I encourage pet owners to come along to this fun event with their dogs and take advantage of the free micro-chipping provided on the day for Shellharbour City residents."
