The five-year-old gelding, trained by Matthew Smith and ridden by Mitchell Bell, was in fourth place at the first turn before powering home to win the Jack Primmer Electronics Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1400m from Ruthless Agent and Kiarra Rose.

There were only five runners in the race following four late scratchings - including horses from Gwenda Markwell's and Robert and Luke Price's stables.

Bell said it was an "awkward race" but he was pleased with Silent General's performance.

"I was mid field and the tempo really steadied up, which made it awkward for us," he said.

"But he got on the outside lead and got into a real rhythm after that and produced his best [race]. I still think he's got a lot to offer. He's a horse that thinks about things and has got room for improvement."

Earlier in the day, Mr Mosiac proved that last month's maiden victory at Kembla Grange was no fluke by winning the i98 Breakfast Show Class One Handicap over 1000m.

The colt, trained by Gerald Ryan, saluted at the Ilawarra Turf Club on October 17. He backed up that result to win on Tuesday from Watching and Dizzy Miss Lizzy.

Jockey Keagan Latham said Mr Mosiac was a promising horse who had done "everything right".

"I'm pretty impressed that he jumped from a bad barrier and got into a prominent position early on without wasting too much energy," he said.

"I gave him a little breather around the bend to save a bit for the run home. When asked, he reared up again really well.

"I think this horse has got a bright future, I really like him. I think he's got an engine on him."

It was a delightful double for jockey Chad Lever on Tuesday.

Lever rode the Chris Waller-trained Stardome to victory in the WIN Network Class Two Handicap over 1600m before saluting on board Snips, trained by David Pfieffer, in the TC Air & Electric Class Two Handicap over 1300m.

In the opening race, Rod Quinton's Bacinblac recorded a win in the i98FM Illawarra Convoy Maiden Handicap over 1600m.

Aldasha, trained by Gwenda Markwell, saluted in the Locopa Designs Millinery 4yo and Up Maiden Plate over 1000m while Clare Cunningham's Ready's Girl won the Beauty Bar 3yo Maiden Handicap over 1000m.

John Thompson's Brunetta won the meeting's final race, the Go Hire Maiden Handicap over 1300m.
