After the operator of the Dapto Dogs, the Dapto Agricultural and Horticultural Society, called an immediate shutdown on greyhound racing at the venue on Wednesday it looked doomed.
The regular gathering of Thursday night at Dapto of trainers, owners, punters, supporters and greyhounds looked unlikely to happen this week.
Yet Greyhound Racing NSW won a last-minute reprieve on Thursday and all of a sudden the Thursday night Dapto Dogs were back on, albeit a little bit late.
Illawarra Mercury photographer Anna Warr was there to capture all the action of the meeting, which still is under threat of continuing into the future.
With many of the facilities at the track still being under lock and key, Anna captured all of the colour of the night, including a barbecue being fired up to feed fans and beers being brought in to quench the thirst of punters.
The Dapto Dogs have been an institution in this region. Only time will tell whether they continue to be or not.
The court case between Greyhound Racing NSW and the Dapto Agricultural and Horticultural Society returns to court on Monday.
