And if recent results are anything to go by, he might just get there.
The Shellharbour resident recently returned home from South Australia after he took out the inaugural Karting Australia Ultimate Club Racer event at The Bend.
The competition started with more than 180 racers across the country, with Carson one of just two NSW drivers to progress to the national finals in South Australia.
There Carson showed off his racing prowess, the youngster producing a number of impressive performances in the preliminary races.
The competition came to a head in the final, with Carson locked in a three-way battle for first place.
Sitting third with just two corners remaining, Carson watched as both his rivals drifted wide, the junior taking advantage of the error to drive through on the inside and claim the victory.
Carson said it was an unbelievable feeling to win such a big competition.
"I thought I could do pretty well, but I wasn't sure," Carson said.
"I went through on the second last turn and I thought it couldn't be true, I thought I was dreaming. When I crossed the line I was pumped, it felt great."
Carson now turns his focus to next year's Australian Karting Championships, where he hopes to outrace the country's top juniors.
"My next goal is to race in the Australian Karting Championships.
"I'm training pretty hard for that and I think I can go pretty well."
