With his friends and family watching on, the Queensland resident is preparing to deal with added pressure, but he's confident he can produce a good result.
"I'm looking forward to being back in the Illawarra, back where I'm from," Carberry said. "Hopefully we have a fair few people coming to watch.
"It is a bit nerve-wracking, you want to do well and all my family and friends are watching, expecting you to go well. It all just comes down to the day and whatever happens, happens."
Sunday will mark the first running of the Super Sprint Format, with three short races rather than one long one and Carberry said it's one that will play in his favour.
"The shorter races do suit me, I'm not a fan of the long-distance races.
"Hopefully I can finish in the top ten and climb up the overall standings."
