With drainage work at Figtree Oval throughout the winter leading to damage to the outfield, there was a disagreement over the suitability of the ground.
The Devils were happy to take the field, however Dapto were reluctant after the umpire ruled the oval unsafe.
The preferred outcome for both teams would be to play a one-day fixture next Saturday, however that throws up a raft of scheduling challenges if Figtree Oval is ruled unsuitable for play.
With the lack of rain contributing to the issue, Wests captain Zach Churchill said the situation will likely worsen in the coming weeks.
"It hasn't been great most of the season and inevitably it will get worse," Chirchill said. "We're about to go to level two water restrictions, which will make it even harder to fix."
