Berry residents started a petition to have local acts play at Fairgrounds, and now hometown acts Lenka and Electric Ginger will feature at the festival's Windmill Stage.
"I think there's a lot of excitement and anticipation about a couple of local artists performing at the festival," Electric Ginger, aka singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Greg Townley said.
"It's my first festival spot, which is really exciting."
Townley's band The Chronics were a regular and popular fixture on the Sydney music scene.
Having relocated with his family to Berry a year-and-a-half ago, Townley, 41, debuted his Electric Ginger project at last year's Fairgrounds after party.
"It's a mix of synth-pop, indie, dance music, with a bit of guitar in some of them as well," he said of the new project.
"I just wanted to do fun, upbeat songs that I could play and have a dance with my friends."
Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Lenka, formerly of the band Decoder Ring, has been releasing solo albums and touring worldwide for the past decade.
Her music has been heard in films such as Somersault, Moneyball and Easy A.
She's also played shows across America, China, the UK and Australia.
Lenka's On My Side single will be officially released on Friday.
Born in Bega and having spent time in the US, Lenka (surname Kripac) and her family relocated to just outside Berry a couple of years ago.
She said due to much of her musical success occurring overseas, she had retained a degree of anonymity in Berry.
"People (previously) had a vague idea that I was a musician, but now they go, 'oh, I didn't realise you sing The Show'," she said.
"They know the song and they know me, but they didn't really connect the dots until now when I'm starting to do some more promo."
The mother of two welcomed the opportunity to play a hometown show.
"I have my Mum life and I've also got my music life, which is not usually in this area," she said.
"But this week it is, which is great."
The Fairgrounds Festival is on at Berry Showgrounds on Friday and Saturday.
