Uni will take on undefeated Wollongong in the final round of the Cricket Illawarra women's competition before the Christmas break, with three more games to be played in the new year.
For Uni captain Sally Johnston, the match is set to be a tough one.
"They're a pretty hot outfit," Johnston said. "They have a few cricketers with a bit more experience than us, we'll have to make sure our improved fielding skills are on the money.
"It will be a tough match but we'll approach it like every match. We'll aim to have fun and if we come out and win, all the better."
Johnston leads a team largely made up of hockey players, with the squad forming a team for last year's inaugural competition to remain active in the summer.
Now, a year down the track, the side is attracting a number of new players and Johnston said it's great to see women have the opportunity to play cricket in the Illawarra.
"Girls do sometimes like playing together and just playing in a team of girls. This competition is introducing girls to cricket and giving them a chance to play.
"It's good for Illawarra cricket and is on the back of the WBBL. That's providing the profile for women's cricket and helps it become attractive to play the sport."
Friday will also see Keira take on Northern Districts, with the Corrimal Cougarettes having the bye.
