Gilly hit 11 fours in his 75 runs on the lightning quick Geoff Shaw Oval outfield, as The Rail finished 5-212 in 38 overs to chase down Oak Flats total of 5-209.
Tail-ender Muhummad Sheikh, better known for his new ball talent, was used as an opening pinch-hitter for a valuable 14, before Gilly and brother Kieran combined for a 69-run victory.
Stuart Tobin (31) and Dyland Rae (28) then finished the job.
Gilly said it was their performance in the field which set the platform, keeping them to 209 despite opener Scott McAndrew and No.5 Jack Bennett posting half-centuries.
"Two of their guys have got scores, so we did well to keep them to that," Gilly said. "It's like anywhere else, without any rain the outfields are pretty fast, but we bowled well and other than a couple of really tough chances missed, we did everything right in the field.
"It's something we've been working really hard on.
"We've beaten Shellharbour and couldn't quite go on with it against Lake so we know we're capable of beating the top teams."
Lake Illawarra remains the competition pacesetters with a dominant 118-run victory over Shellharbour on Saturday.
Kerrod White (78) and Ryan Maguire (86) put on a 121-run partnership to push the Lakers to 9-290 from their 50 overs.
Kookas amassed 321 for their first win of the season, Ellis Dale 89 with 13 fours and two sixes and Ned Vucetic 88, including 17 fours.
