Owners hope the 3Sixty Indoor Skate Park will be completed in late December/early January, and open early in the new year in time for the rest of the school holidays.

A development application lodged with Wollongong City Council for the Spring Hill park was approved earlier this year.

To make way for the new venue, Hangtime Trampoline Park has been closed, and the project includes making alterations to the premises to accommodate the new skate park.

With all internal painting completed, furniture on-site and signage up, construction of the skate park has officially begun.

An American construction team has been flown in.

The 3SIXTY Skate Park design features a mix of ramp and street elements, as well as a café, party area, skate shop and seating.

The project is a collaboration between business coach/entrepreneur Adrian D'Amico and businessman Brett Baker.

Mr Baker is managing director of Funscape, who have opened several indoor entertainment venues in Wollongong, including Hangdog Climbing Gym, Hangtime Trampoline Park, Breakout Bar and Escape Rooms, Revolution Laser Arena and Revolution Archery Tag.

Mr Baker said they were aiming for the skate park to be open for the January part of the school holidays.

Included in the park will be a double four-foot half pipe, street and stair sections, plenty of rails, a mixture of ramps ranging between three feet and nine feet tall, a resi-ramp and an airbag.

"We have ramps installed and have almost completed one of our favourite features, the half pipe with spine," Mr D'Amico said.

The park will aim to accommodate riding for beginners to experts, and is set to employ about 30 staff.
