The most recently completed country-themed playground, Mood Park in Albion Park, is also the largest of the new play spaces.
Part of Shellharbour City Council's efforts to upgrade local parks, it includes a windmill climber, horse stable, blacksmith, bridges and an inclusive carousel, as well as a water table and nest swings.
The other play spaces are located at Reddall Reserve in Lake Illawarra, Frasers Reserve in Albion Park, and Dawes Park in Barrack Point.
The designs for each park involve various elements that cater for accessibility, resting, sensory receptiveness, as well as balance, climbing and sliding.
Council says four other playgrounds will be renewed soon at Reddall Reserve (opposite Windang Street) at Lake Illawarra, McDonald Park in Albion Park Rail, and Ski Way Park and Central Park, both in Oak Flats.
Upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
Council is seeking community feedback for what should be included in the new playground designs.
