The road will be closed in both directions between Lady Wakehurst Drive and Railway Crescent from 8pm to 4am.
Work to be carried out includes trimming vegetation, clearing drains and litter collection as well as repairs to the road surface, guardrail and signs to improve safety for road users.
The work was planned for November 11 but had to be rescheduled to December 15 due to the extreme and catastrophic fire danger ratings.
This rescheduled maintenance work coincides with planned rail trackwork.
Buses will be replacing trains between Dapto and Central from 2am Saturday, December 14 to 2am Monday, December 16.
To minimise impact to train service times, provisions have been made to allow these buses through the work area during the closure.
All other vehicles will be required to follow the detour during work times via the M1 Princes Motorway, Bulli Pass and Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
