Perched high above the city, atop of the Wollongong City Council building a familiar face appeared.

No, it was not the Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery. No, this was someone even more important.
This was a man who goes by many names, but we perhaps know him best as Santa Claus.
It was a cool December night when Santa Claus summoned the Illawarra Mercury for a meeting atop one of the most prominent buildings in Wollongong.
The reason?
He had a special message for us to deliver on his behalf to all the girls and boys of the Illawarra.
Luckily Santa's Little Helper, Illawarra Mercury photographer Robert Peet, was on hand to capture the moment.
The Illawarra Mercury would like to thank the good folk of Wollongong Central for helping us make contact with Santa and also Santa's good friend Bob Goodridge for helping us out too.
We'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
