The game on Saturday evening between the Hawks and Melbourne United is the Illawarra Mercury sponsored game and the Mercury has handed over the game promotion to raise funds for the Salvation Army Disaster Appeal.
Volunteers from the Salvation Army will be out the front of the WIN Entertainment Centre before the game and in the stadium throughout the match asking for donations to assist those impacted around the country by our horrific season of bushfire.
"Please, if you are attending the game on Saturday, we ask you to find a way to support the Salvos in helping those affected by these horrific fires around our country," Illawarra Mercury editor Julian O'Brien said.
"Whether it's two dollars, 20 dollars or more, every little bit will help, but you know the Salvation Army will ensure all of your kind support goes directly to where it needs to go in helping people rebuild their property and their lives.
"It's a hard time to be going out and attending events when things such as these bushfires are happening, but this is one way you can enjoy a couple of hours relief and still contribute as well."
As part of the game night promotion, the Mercury has made available a number of tickets to the families of firefighters to attend the game and the Hawks have matched that donation of tickets as well.

"We made this decision to dedicate this game to the Salvos over a month ago and we could not have envisaged how bad the situation would actually get in that time." Mr O'Brien said.
"The Shoalhaven and the South Coast in many ways are the summer playground of the people of the Illawarra and to see what they are now going through is heart-breaking. The people and the landscape will be marked forever."
The game will tip-off at 5.30 and Salvation Army volunteers will be out the front from 4 pm.
