With the weather finally being on the fishos side this past week, heaps of local boats have been out chasing these beakies that are here in substantial numbers and well within range of well set up trailer boats.
Marlin to 100 kilos have been caught this week from 50 fathoms and beyond.
Luke also reported many shop customers have their first billfish for the 2020 season now behind them.
Amanda May on board Shellharbour GFC boat Screamin Seamen landed her first striped with a fish estimated around the 70 kilo mark.
Another Shellharbour GFC boat Bean Flickin with Tully Mackay also landed a top fish of about 65 kilos following a quick solo trip on Monday afternoon.
There have been plenty of good kings around this week also with quite a few boats getting stuck into them around Bellambi and the Port Islands.
Fish to 15 kilo have been landed and by all reports there are plenty of them about with some big hoods thrown into the mix as well which are proving very hard to land over the shallow reefs.
They can be fussy feeders with some crews reporting that they had trolled live squid and slimeys around the fish for hours before a bait change to yakkas prompted their bite.
Others reported the exact opposite, so best to have all the baits covered and keep swapping them over to see what they will feed on any given day.
Beaches have been fishing well for bream and whiting of late with young Johnathan English landing his biggest whiting to date with dad and mum on Tuesday off Bellambi beach.
There have been plenty of salmon about that easily go near 5 kilo and Bulli beach has had some great flathead over this week.
There's been plenty of reports reports of people staying at the caravan park letting us know how good the fishing been on their holidays.
