Director Amy Copeland says the new production of Legally Blonde - The Musical will "bring a little bit of Broadway to Wollongong".

"We have a mission to bring the highest quality shows to a community theatre space," she said.
"We've tried to bring all the Broadway elements, like flying scenery, flying cast (members), lit up portals and insane amounts of lights to the IPAC stage."
The musical adaptation of the smash hit movie, Legally Blonde - The Musical is bringing the fabulously fun story of Elle Woods to the Wollongong venue.
"If you don't like musicals, this is probably the musical to start with, especially if you enjoy a laugh," Copeland said.
It features Illawarra performers, musicians and crew, led by former Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts student and NIDA graduate Talia Sigsworth as Elle.
"Elle Woods is definitely a dream role of mine," she said. "To be able to play it at the IPAC is incredible.
"I love her character journey as well, going from the dumb blonde to the smartest in the class."
Sigsworth said she was a fan of the film and Reese Witherspoon's portrayal of the lead character, but said the musical is quite different.
"There's a different energy with the musical - just lots of different songs, higher energy and lots of fun," Sigsworth said.
Also gracing the venue's stage will be some furry, four-legged stars.
The popular Bruiser and Rufus from the film have not been overlooked, and their roles will be reprised by the same dogs from the musical's original Australian tour.
"They steal the show - they don't have to do anything but walk on-stage, and everyone's in tears," Copeland said.
The show will be presented by Albion Park-based, not-for-profit company So Popera Productions, who have previously staged The Little Mermaid and Singin' in the Rain.
"We do this because we love it - we get nothing out of it except for applause, so we enjoy every minute of it," Copeland said.
The show runs from January 17 to 25 at the IPAC.

The opening night's performance of Legally Blonde will also be a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Foundation, and So Popera are encouraging everyone to wear pink.
