A severe weather warning has been issued for the Illawarra with thunderstorms, damaging winds, hail and heavy rainfall forecast for the region on Monday afternoon.

The Bureau of Meteorology said a dangerous thunderstorm, detected near Camden and Picton, was moving southeast towards Sutherland, Wollongong and Campbelltown. The storm was expected to hit these areas about 3.10pm, the bureau said.
Other thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Branxton, Nowra and Berry and were expected to hit Kiama about 3.10pm.
A low pressure system over inland NSW is drawing humid air across eastern parts of the state causing widespread thunderstorm activity, the bureau of meteorology said.
The system is expected to gradually move to the Tasman Sea on Monday afternoon and evening.
The bureau said heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in the warning areas.
Wollongong can expect a top temperature of 26 degrees on Monday, with the mercury expected to rise to 33 degrees on Thursday.
