A police officer has been taken to hospital after he was injured during a police foot pursuit in Woonona on Tuesday morning.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the male officer sustained a knee injury during the pursuit just before 9.45am, and was taken to Wollongong Hospital.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said a man had been arrested in relation to a number of break and enters in the area.
Wollongong's new police commander, Superintendent Evan Quarmby, will address the media this afternoon over the incident.
