"It's van life full-time for me - my recording gear's even in here," she said.
"I live in this, and travel pretty much the East Coast, just doing gigs as a full-time freelance muso."
The acoustic folk performer still predominantly stays in her "home base" of Wollongong, but no longer has a fixed address by choice.
"I lived in Wollongong in a proper residence from about 2010, and a bit over a year ago I decided I wanted to stop paying the rent and do the full-time muso thing," she said.
Mills, 28, will release a new single to support artists, crew and music workers affected by the Australian bushfire crisis.
Mills, who performs as LEO, will be donating 50 per cent of sales of new single Feels Like Home to the Support Act bushfire relief fund.
Support Act is an Australian charity providing support for artists, crew and music workers affected by the bushfire crisis.
Mills said while the bushfires may have affected her financially, preventing her from playing gigs either because of hazardous smoke or road closures, she said there are many others in the industry suffering, financially and otherwise.
"I also watched my family be displaced by the Gospers Mountain fire over December/January and know how devastating and long-lasting this can be," she said.
Mills said it was important to contribute and raise awareness of the impact this crisis has on freelance artists.
"There's a lot of fundraising going on, but I wanted to contribute in a bit of a different way that's more personal and bring light to the knock-on effect it has," she said.
"I wanted to contribute and bring to attention the impact the bushfires have on artists."
