Three of the state's sides are in contention to win national titles heading into day two of the festival on Thursday in Unanderra.
NSW's top U/15s girls team - which includes Illawarra trio Lucinda Nash, Madison Agnew and Lilly Twigg - lead their pool after opening their account with victories over ACT (4-2) and Queensland Gold (3-0).
NSW B girls lost their first two games and sit at the foot of their pool. NSW will face Tasmania on Thursday and NSW B takes on Queensland Maroon.
Meanwhile, both NSW U/15s boys teams lead their respective pools.
The top NSW side - which includes Illawarra's Michael Arthur, Thomas Duncan, Luke Potter and Dylan Simmons - recorded an 8-1 win over Tasmania. Illawarra pair Ethan Bambridge and Taz Nyrhinen's NSW B sealed a 5-1 victory over ACT.
NSW is scheduled to take on Western Australia and Queensland Gold on Thursday, while NSW B will face Queensland Maroon and Victoria.
The Australian Indoor Hockey Festival began at Unanderra's Illawarra Hockey Stadium on January 4 and concludes with the under-15s finals this Sunday.
NSW has already won five titles in 2020 with the open men's and women's, under-21s women's and under-18s men's and women's emerging victorious, while the NSW U/13s Lions boys also topped their pool (no finals in that age group).
