The NSW Rural Fire Service is searching for a large air tanker after it lost contact with the aircraft in the state's south on Thursday.

Firefighting crews on the ground have said the aircraft may have crashed while flying in the Snowy Monaro region.
Helicopters are trying to locate the missing tanker.
The NSW RFS said there was no more information available at this time.
