Hundreds of people packed into North Wollongong Hotel on Friday night for the 'Fire Fund' concert.

The goal of fundraising $150,000 was reached through ticket, raffle and merchandise sales, all of which will go to the NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services, and the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

The surf-pop favourites were joined earlier in the night by Tumbleweed, Dune Rats for a DJ set, Shining Bird, Dear Seattle, Totty and Maddy Jane.

Raffle prizes included signed surfboards from professional surfers.

Jeb Taylor from Farmer and The Owl, which is Hockey Dad's label, said the night, atmosphere and crowd were "great".

"The rain held off until the last song, which was fitting given the bushfire crisis," he said.

"The concert came together really well. What started out as a conversation between Hockey Dad and us last month came together really well.

"It was great the other bands also agreed to donate their time.

"The one stage gave the crowd a chance to see a diverse range of artists, who were most locally."

Mr Taylor said he felt it was the right decision to move the sold out concert from the initial location of Club Windang to a larger venue, rather than capping the numbers as it ultimately raised more awareness and money.

"In the past few months, a lot of people have felt helpless as they aren't the ones out their fighting the fires," he said.

"This was one way they could help."

When announcing the concert, Hockey Dad's Billy Fleming and Zach Stephenson said they wanted to do their bit for the South Coast after the fires as they had been to the area for holidays as children.

"It's a special place for us to go surfing and hang out, and we've got a lot of friends down there. We really wanted to try and do something to lend a hand," Mr Stephenson said.
