The International Women's Day Illawarra Committee is calling for applications to their annual scholarships which are now open. There are seven scholarships available _
- Cate Stevenson IWD Scholarship for Women (Education, Business & Community Service)
- Kerryn McCann IWD Scholarship for Women (Sports)
- Aunty Mary IWD Scholarship for Indigenous Women
- Creative Spirit IWD Scholarship for Women (Art, Design, Music, Theatre, Photography, other)
- The Beryl Lewis Scholarship for Older Women
- The Dr Margaret Gardiner Scholarship for Medical Research
- The Gracie Wallis Scholarship for Women with a disability
Committee chair Vicki Tiegs encouraged people to consider applying.
"International Women's Day Illawarra will offer seven individual scholarships of $2000 each to encourage women in our community who might not otherwise have the opportunity, to expand their knowledge, skill and experience in a field of their interest or in which they have shown great potential," she said.
"Applications for the scholarships are now open and close on Friday, February 7."

Last year saw the introduction of a new scholarship inspired by the memory of Gracie Wallis (2005-2018), created to help women with a disability to achieve their dreams.
The winners of the scholarships are announced and presented at the IWD Illawarra Luncheon which has quickly become one of the biggest events on the city's social calendar.
This year's dinner will be held on March 6 at the WIN Entertainment Centre. This year's guest speaker will be Rachael Robertson, who was only the second female to lead a team tpo Davis Station in Antarctica.
