Gone are the likes of veteran Scott Chipperfield and in comes more young talent as the Rosellas move up to the Illawarra Premier League.
"A few of the older guys weren't really keen on going into the Premier League so we have about nine fresh faces from last year. It's very different, we're a lot younger side," Paine said.
"We've got a few [recruits] from around the Premier League like Vaughan Patterson [from Wollongong Olympic], Liam Unicomb [Tarrawanna] and Bryce Daenell [Fernhill]. And we've brought up some of the best from the District League as well. We've got a couple from Helensburgh, Cody [Cuthbertson] and Brad [Watts] - they were two of the top scorers in the District League.
"The Premier League is quicker, it's tough and there's more technical players. But most of our players have been there at some stage over the years so it's not too different at the end of the day."
Bellambi will get their first taste of what to expect in 2020 at the Fraternity Cup, starting February 12. They are in Group A alongside IPL teams Tarrawanna, Wollongong Olympic and Woonona.
"We have to start fresh with all of these new guys who are learning our systems at the moment," Paine said.
"It's not a particularly easy pool. But we went quite well last year, I think we made the third versus fourth playoff from the District League. I'm not going out there to win anything but if we do, we do. It's all about learning at this stage."
