Dr Dean is a freelance philosopher and award-winning writer and teacher.
He has a Doctorate in philosophy from the University of New South Wales on the evolution of morality, and specialises in ethics, critical thinking, the philosophy of science and philosophy education.
Dr Dean also teaches philosophy, ethics and critical thinking to children through the Primary Ethics program and in high schools around Australia.
He will talk on 'The Art of Disagreement in a Disagreeable World' on February 12 (4 - 5.15pm) at the Excelsior Hall in the Thirroul Community Centre.
The annual lecture is free but people must reserve their seat before the day by calling 4227 8191.
ISS convenor Eric Weddell said the previous eight lectures had proven to be very successful and popular.
