This type of development in remote and/or sensitive locations is totally unacceptable
- Neighbourhood Forum 5
The members of Neighbourhood Forum 5 and the newly-formed Keiraville Action Group have signalled their intent to try and stop the development, called "The Cosgrove", proposed by the Chinese-owned company Surewin Parkview.
The Neighbourhood Forum, part of council's community input process, resolved to lodge a "strong objection".
They said more intensification of development should not be allowed in areas remote from urban centres, and in particular, environmentally sensitive areas such as the foothills of the escarpment.
"Council [should] amend immediately its development control plan to make it crystal clear that this type of development in remote and/or sensitive locations is totally unacceptable," members at the meeting resolved.
The 4ha site has views across the botanic garden. The development application is out for public comment.
