Foord scored a hat-trick of goals in Australia's thumping 7-0 win over Chinese Taipei on Friday night.

All eyes will be on the crafty forward when they take on face Thailand, again in Campbelltown, on Monday night. Victory will help the Matildas move another step closer to Tokyo 2020.

Shellharbour's Foord stepped into the striker position on Friday night with Sam Kerr starting on the bench due to a quadriceps concern.

"I was just doing my role for the team, in that number nine position," Foord said.

"That's your role in that position, to finish goals. There were lovely assists from my team mates to get my three goals. We've been in camp for a really long time and we all know our roles. No matter who's there, being in training we've changed it up and got used to playing with everyone.

"Consistency and just playing to our style [is crucial], keeping our level at a high level. We know when we're playing at that level, teams can't compete with us. It's about focusing on ourselves and being at our best."

Foord completed her hat-trick before half time against the Taipei.

A lovely assist from Kyah Simon helped the 25-year-old open her account after nine minutes. Sloppy defending 15 minutes later then opened the door for Foord to slot home her second goal.

After Stephanie Catley found the back of the net, Foord then scored her third goal in the 38^th minute to give the Matildas a 4-0 lead.

Second half goals to Hayley Raso, Kerr and Katrina Gorry rounded out the win.

"It was a massive team effort," Foord said.

"We were training and preparing for a [five-opponent defence]. We were ready and knew we had to be patient. We knew we would get chances. We just wanted to be ruthless and didn't want to score just one goal - we really wanted to dominate.

"We were really pleased with the result and hopefully we can go into the next game with a lot of confidence."

Matildas coach Ante Milicic said it was a pleasing win but there were was plenty of room for improvement, especially after allowing Taipei two scoring chances.

"Was it the best we've played? We've played better. We'll quickly analyse this one but we need to back this up on Monday night against Thailand," Milicic said.

"We can't give those chances, if we are a serious team. Maybe that expectation is too high, but it's what we want to do. We don't want be a team that concedes goals, concedes chances... we minimised it, but it's still got to be better if we want to compete consistently with the top sides.

"[But] it was a win with a clean sheet and we created a lot of chances. We believed we would create openings and when we did, we capitalised. And I think on another night, we could have got more. I was pleased we went into half time with a good lead. We wanted to build on that [ in the second half] and I think we did. Overall, we're very pleased."
