A man who held a knife to a service station attendant's face in Wollongong is on the run.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the armed robbery at the Caltex service station in Wollongong in the early hours of Monday morning.
Sergeant David Willis said the man attended the service station in Crown Street at about 12.45am and allegedly produced a knife before walking behind the front counter and taking cash, cigarettes and bottles of soft drink.
Sergeant Willis said it was a terrifying incident for the teller.
"If someone is putting a knife to your face, I'm sure you would be terrified as well," Sgt Willis said.
He said the man fled on foot. No one was injured as a result of the robbery.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District attended and established a crime scene.
"They've got some footage and they are making some investigations in relation to the footage and we will go from there," Sgt Willis said.

"At this stage we are saying there is just one male person involved.
"I can describe that person as being about 180cm tall, medium built wearing a brown hoodie and long pants.
"At the time he was also wearing a blue-coloured surgical mask and lime green coloured gardening gloves."
Police are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Wollongong police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Meantime, police are also investigating a break-in at O'Brien's Service Centre in Corrimal.
A "considerable amount" of tools were stolen from the motor mechanics' business in Tarrawanna Road at about 5am Monday morning.
Sgt Willis said two males broke into the premises and stole a considerable amount of tools.
"They've left the premises in a white coloured Toyota Hilux newer model," he said.
"One male is described as approximately 180cm tall. He was wearing a dark coloured hoodie and long pants."
Sgt Willis said inquiries were continuing.
