Water is vital for our bodies, for everyday living and general cell function. Some important facts about it include:
We need at a minimum 2 litres a day and in excess of 3 litres if we train and drink caffeine.
Our bodies are made up of roughly 65-70 per cent water.
A standard coffee or alcoholic beverage leaves you 1 cup of water less in your daily intake.
If you lose 1 litre in sweat during a big session you should aim to replace it by 125-150 per cent (1.25 -1.5L).
A 2 per cent drop in water in your body due to dehydration starts to reduce energy by amounts up to 10 per cent
Use water as your go to beverage.
