According to NSW Ambulance Inspector Norm Rees, one male with back injuries has been transported to Wollongong Hospital.
There were a total of eight occupants in the five vehicles assessed by ambulance officials.
All three lanes have been cleared and are now open to traffic.

Traffic is heavy after reports of a multi-vehicle accident at West Wollongong.
Ambulance NSW officials received the call regarding a five-vehicle accident just after 8.45am on Wednesday.
The incident occurred southbound on the Princes Motorway at West Wollongong, near Mount Keira Road.
Ambulance officials and police are on-scene, with an Ambulance NSW spokesperson saying two patients were being attended to.
No one is trapped.
According to LiveTraffic, one of two southbound lanes is closed.
Motorists are advised to reduce speed and exercise caution.
