The Illawarra basketball product was on Monday named as part of the Australian Boomers national team to play in the upcoming Asia Cup qualifiers.
Glover was named along with four other Illawarra Hawks team-mates for the games to be held in Brisbane later this week.
For the Hawks as a club it represents a remarkable achievement and a great ending to a tough season. For Gloverpersonally, it represents so much more.
It represents another box ticked in his amazing comeback from injury - injuries which would have stopped many others in their tracks.
Angus was widely regarded as one of the best juniors in the country before he got hit with, not one, but three knee reconstructions. Three.
He has shown enough in his rookie NBL season this year to say that those dreams and aspirations are well and truly back on track.
The Boomers selection is justification and reward for all the literal blood, sweat and tears this young man has had to endure in his comeback.
Unlike the other Hawks too, Angus Glover is a true Illawarra product. This region has watched him grow up from a Hawks and basketball-mad toddler, to a Hawks and basketball-mad emerging star on the national basketball scene.
He is also the first, truly local Illawarra product to wear the Boomers jersey for several decades following in the footsteps of Gordie McLeod or Rod and Terry Johnson.
His friend and schoolmate Xavier Cooks was of course in the squad for the FIBA World Cup last year, but missed due to injury himself.
Xavier will get his chance and wouldn't it be amazing to think the former schoolmates might one day represent the nation together.
Outside his basketball talents, Angus is recognised as one of the most community minded players in the league and on Saturday won the Hawks' community award for his efforts over the past season.
Congratulations Gus. Go get 'em.
