Perrin, 24, is facing 27 domestic violence related charges amid allegations he subjected the woman to repeated acts of abuse and intimidation while they lived together in Dapto between 2015 and 2017.
The woman reported the alleged acts to police in late 2019, resulting in police from the DV high risk offender team attending Silverwater jail on Wednesday, where Perrin is in custody on unrelated charges.
Among the 27 charges are multiple counts of choking, kidnapping, assault and intimidation.
Perrin is also facing one count each of aggravated entering of a dwelling with intent and causing reckless grievous bodily harm.
Perrin appeared in Wollongong Local Court via video link from prison during a brief mention of his matter on Thursday but did not apply for bail and it was formally refused. He did not enter any pleas to the charges and the case was adjourned to April for the brief of evidence to be served on Aboriginal Legal Aid.
Perrin waved at family members sitting in the public gallery of the court before the video screen went blank.
Court documents reveal Perrin allegedly held the victim against her will for almost 18 hours on May 12, 2015. The woman claims during the ordeal she was repeatedly assaulted and Perrin tried to strangle her and threatened her with a knife.
He allegedly tried to choke her again in July and September.
Police will allege Perrin also damaged the victim's property during the September incident.
A further act of detaining is alleged to have taken place in late 2016 when the victim claims Perrin held her against her will for four days while assaulting and intimidating her.
Police will allege the last incident - an unnamed act causing the woman grievous bodily harm - took place on December 1, 2017.
The case will return to court on April 15.
