SCARF finds itself in this predicament because its current CBD tenancy at the Community Gateway Hub is coming to an end.
SCARF CEO Pippa Rendel said the organisation is looking to the wider community for inspiration and help to find a new location that fits the bill.
Ms Rendel is hopeful a centrally-located site, equipped with a kitchen, will become available and added that the charity would love to hear from any like-minded groups who might have a hot tip or be keen to share space.
SCARF is taking inspiration from the very community it serves and is embracing the move as an opportunity for a new beginning.
"We're being pragmatic about the move," she said.
"We're mindful of being flexible and keeping costs low, but we are also excited by the opportunity that comes with setting up somewhere new."
SCARF is looking for a base to run a range of community building events including women's only events, coffee and conversation mornings, children's holiday programs, homework clubs and a community drop-in centre.
While currently based in Wollongong CBD, the charity is considering options across the wider Wollongong region.
It would also like to hear from larger corporate organisations that may be able to help with any element of the relocation.
"The Illawarra has a history of generosity in welcoming new community members to the area and we're hopeful that generosity will extend to us as a charity seeking a new premises, too," Ms Rendel said.
